An XML sitemap that tells the truth

A sitemap is a list the site gives to search engines. It says which pages exist and when they last changed. Most sites generate it automatically and never look at it again, which is how it slowly starts to lie.

The first rule is simple. Only list pages that should be indexed. That means pages that return a normal response, allow indexing and name themselves as the canonical version. Redirects, blocked pages and duplicates do not belong in the file.

Old entries are the usual source of noise. A page gets deleted or merged. The generator keeps listing it. Months later a third of the file points at addresses that no longer exist as listed.

The last modified date needs the same honesty. It should change when the main content changes, not every time the page is saved or a footer is updated. Dates that move without real changes teach search engines to ignore them.

Large sites should split the sitemap by type. Services, articles and location pages each get a file. A sitemap index lists them. The coverage reports in Search Console then show which group has problems.

Check the file against the live site regularly. A small script can fetch every listed address and confirm the status code, the robots rules and the canonical tag. Any mismatch is either a broken page or a broken sitemap.

Pages missing from the sitemap matter too. A page that should rank but never appears in the file may be found late, or only through links from other pages.

Submitting the sitemap helps search engines find it, and nothing more. The file does not raise rankings and does not force a crawl. Its value comes from being accurate, every time it is read. We treat it as a report on the site, reviewed like any other.

Why isn’t our site ranking higher even after design
and content updates?
Because updates alone don’t fix structural gaps.
Search engines need clear signals — hierarchy,
metadata, and keyword intent.
Most websites focus on visuals but ignore hidden blockers: uncompressed images, inefficient code, or conflicting scripts.
That wastes crawl budget and lowers page experience scores.
When technical health improves — faster load, clean markup, consistent hierarchy — rankings stabilize
and every update performs better.

What is technical SEO and why does it matter for Sunnyvale websites?

Technical SEO covers site speed, crawlability, indexation, mobile usability, security, and structured data — the infrastructure letting Google find and rank your pages correctly. Sunnyvale businesses with excellent content but poor technical health lose to competitors whose sites load faster and crawl more efficiently.

What does a technical SEO audit cover for Sunnyvale business websites?

Crawl analysis, indexation status, page speed (Core Web Vitals), mobile usability, HTTPS implementation, XML sitemaps, robots.txt configuration, canonical tags, structured data validation, and redirect chain analysis. Sunnyvale businesses get a prioritized issue list with severity ratings and fix instructions.

How long does a technical SEO audit take for Sunnyvale sites?

Standard audit 1-2 weeks. Implementation ranges from days (quick wins like meta robots tags) to weeks (speed optimization, structure overhaul). Sunnyvale businesses on WordPress benefit from faster fixes — most technical issues have established solutions on the platform.

What determines technical SEO pricing for Sunnyvale businesses?

Site size, CMS platform, issue severity, and implementation scope. Auditing a 30-page Sunnyvale WordPress site costs less than a 5,000-page enterprise site with custom CMS. We audit first so businesses understand scope before committing to fix implementation.

Can technical SEO improve page speed for Sunnyvale enterprise websites?

Yes. Image optimization, lazy loading, caching configuration, CSS/JS minification, render-blocking resource elimination, and server response tuning. Sunnyvale businesses often see Core Web Vitals move from red to green — directly impacting both rankings and the user experience enterprise buyers demand.

How do you handle indexation issues on Sunnyvale websites with many pages?

Audit which pages Google indexes vs. which you want indexed. Noindex tags remove low-value pages, canonical tags consolidate duplicates, and sitemap optimization ensures priority pages are discovered. Sunnyvale businesses with many geo-pages especially benefit — proper indexation prevents dilution.

How do you report technical SEO findings to Sunnyvale engineering teams?

Prioritized report with screenshots, current vs. recommended values, and implementation specifications. Issues categorized by severity (critical, high, medium, low) with estimated ranking impact. Sunnyvale clients share directly with developers for efficient fix implementation.

Is technical SEO a one-time fix or ongoing need for Sunnyvale businesses?

Core issues are fixed once, but technical health needs continuous monitoring. Plugin updates, content additions, and CMS changes can introduce new problems. Quarterly technical audits for Sunnyvale businesses wanting proactive issue detection before rankings are affected.

Will the audit affect my live website?

No changes are made without approval — all tests are safe and non-disruptive.

Do you provide reports I can share with developers?

Yes. You’ll receive a detailed report with recommendations and screenshots for each issue.
